I looked up PBWorks. I am struggling with how to use a wiki in Art I class. However, I've been fascinated with Wikipedia - and have used it often. I just spent the last 30 minutes registering with Wikipedia & trying to edit & save on an article about M.C. Escher. My students use Wikipedia in researching famous artists and constructing powerpoint presentations about chosen artists. So - I know that I should be able to Edit and Save on Wikipedia? Please let me know if you know how to edit, save and link on Wikipedia.
From Wikipedia - interesting guidelines: "...keep a neutral point of view, cite your sources to make articles verifiable, and please remember we are an encyclopedia. If other people haven't yet covered a topic, then we probably shouldn't either."
interesting, but when doing a formal research paper, the kids are not allowed to use Wikipedia. They can start out gathering general knowledge so that they can go further, but it cannot be sited and used in the paper itself.
